What would you do if you won the WSOP Main Event? Pay off your mortgages, fill up your savings account, give some to charity, or perhaps spend it all on tequila?
Enough of Peter Eastgate, who thanks to a series of sets and great play, took home the main event bracelet. There's no doubt that he deserves the title. However, I would rather have seen Ylon Schwartz wrap the bracelet around his wrist. He just seems to be a laid back and nice fellow.
Just the fact that he has made a living as a chess hustler in the streets of Hell's Kitchen makes him a worthy winner in my book. Furthermore, his first poker teacher was named Fat Nick. If that's not bracelet material, I don't know what is.
"Fat Nick had a backgammon club, and in the winter we used to have little freezeouts and I started winning those tournaments and started to hit Atlantic City and that was that," Schwartz said.
Now Schwartz plans to head off to a tropical island somewhere and spend the money he received for 4th place on tequila. Do that. But please come back next year.
Below, you can watch his sad departure from the main event.
