A poll of the US Newspaper USA Today, has shown that an overwhelming majority of the American citizens disagree with the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.
The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act has been a topic of discussion for a long time since its introduction in 2006. Recently the US and the European Union made a deal on compensating for missed business opportunities for European online casino operators.
A stunning 97% of the respondents answered a frank 'yes' when they were asked whether or not it is time to regulate online gambling. The poll in the newspaper came together with an article on Jim Mcdermott, a Congressman who wants to legalize, regulate and tax online gambling.
Experts on this matter warn that the votes should not be interpreted as if the yes-voters support legalization, but rather that they agree with regulation, because online casinos in general are widely accepted as a business practice in the United States.
