Online craps is a game of fast exciting action. One moment, you could be up a fortune and the next you could be wondering where it all went. If you're new to online craps, here are a few tips to keep in mind while you're rolling the virtual bones.
Know the Rules
While the basic rules of craps are constant, there may be some variations with respect to the odds. Make sure you are playing at a craps table that offers the same or better odds as a live casino. Also, since your true odds bets (the additional bets you make on the pass line after you have established a "point") give you your best edge against the casino, make sure that the virtual craps table where you play allows true odds bets. The more they allow you to bet at true odds, the better.
Don't Play Too Fast
A big danger of craps in live casinos is being caught up in the whirlwind of action. Players on a rush may find themselves frantically placing bets all over the layout, not looking up until the seven comes along that wipes it all away. When you're playing at home on your computer, you have a much better chance of focusing on the task at hand without getting caught up in the excitement. Take a step back every now and then to check out how you're doing and see whether you want to protect some of your chips by taking down some action.
Beware of the Proposition Bets
Many of the more esoteric bets on the layout, like "12 on the next roll," offer some very tempting odds. You can be sure that the true odds of such an event happening are much longer than the odds you are being offered. It can be fun to play these bets sometimes, but if you are really looking to maximize your winnings, you should avoid them.
Avoid Superstitions
Try to avoid the gambler's fallacy, that suggests, for example, that if you've just rolled five odd numbers in a row, the chances of your next roll being odd are somehow longer than 50-50. Whether real or virtual, the dice don't have a memory. If you've just rolled a seven five times in a row, the chances of the next roll being seven are no different than if you are picking up the dice for the very first time. Changing your bets based on what numbers have, or have not, been rolled in the past will not help you.
